While most people thought that Anne Hathaway looked like she had been “hacked” in a bad hair salon brawl, other people found the aftermath of the “Les Miserables” hair profile to be engaging and fun. It certainly is a different look for her. The question is, why did she do it and more importantly, how did she do it?

Today, Anne Hathaway has a modern and very short style that is the remnants of what her recent movie: “Les Miserables,” left behind. According to “The Daily Mail,” she achieved the hair style for the movie with a simple razor blade taped with blue tape. Her stylist then proceeded to hack off large areas of the hair in a hap-hazard fashion, in order to give it a more “desperate look.” The look was very effective and somewhat chilling as many audience members were left in tears at the movie’s premiere. It left a very desperate look that the directer wanted for the film.

Now she must deal with what is left of her hair. The results are cute. Her short hair style profile is one that offers a modern and short style. It has a certain appeal on Hathaway, who is already a firecracker. The short style makes her look even more so and probably significantly cooler. Normally her hair is thick and full, with a bit of curl to it. According to blogger “Hollywood Life,” the whole ordeal was a bit challenging to the young actress. It seems that the whole event happened just before her wedding. The audience wasn’t the only one crying over Hathaway. Apparently, she cried at the hair cut as well. Her stylist reportedly gave Hathaway her hair back after the cut and she then donated it to a program called “Locks of Love” which raises money for charity. All is well that “ends” well.

Whether you’re hoping to have your hair professionally styled for spring at the Hairsay salon in Long Island, or opting for a DIY approach, we’re dishing on all the juicy details about spring’s hottest hairstyles. Give your hair a much-needed spring pick-me-up by trying on one of the spring trends featured below.

1. Flirty scarf paired with an up-do. For a flirty look that says “hello spring” in a glamorous, ladylike manner, a floral printed scarf is second to none. Opt for a scarf in a bright, floral pattern to give the most spring-like pop to your hairdo. The tied scarf will be the star of the show; therefore it’s best to go with a simple up-do like a chignon, beehive or a voluminous bun to avoid looking overly fussy for a casual spring day.

2. Braided ponytails. Last year was all about braided headbands. 2013 will be the year of the braided ponytail. There are plenty of ways to work this trend into your spring hairstyle rotation. You can simply opt for a low braided ponytail if you’re short on time. If you have a few moments to spare you can make four braids starting from the crown and zigzag them across, secured with bobby pins and use a hair tie to gather the remainder of the braids with the rest of the ponytail. Another braided ponytail style that will be hot for spring is the voluminous “bumped” ponytail with chunky braided sides.

3. Loose Waves. The sexy bedhead look is always in style, but this spring’s trend is a neater version of the sexy hairdo. To get this in-demand look, wind random sections of hair around a one inch curling iron, making sure to wrap along the outside of the barrel without using the clasp to clamp the hair down. Hold for five seconds and slowly let go of the curl and repeat throughout the rest of the hair. Mist hair with a flexible hold spray, turn hair upside down and gently shake out the curls, using your fingers to loosen them.

The Grammy’s are all about standing out. You are more likely to see outrageous attire here than at any other award show on the planet, so you always need to take the getups with a grain of salt. However, because the Grammy’s really have an anything-goes kind of madera, the styles go from symbol to completely outlandish.

Florence Welch has a very specific style about her, almost as memorable as your vocals for Florence and the Machine. The fair skinned, red-hair singer wore a reptilian based dress by Riccardo Tisci. The dress, for the most part, was incredibly modest, not showing off any arm, shoulders, check or back, as the stud-like attachments ran down the small of her back. However, it was the extended slit in the reflowing bottom of the dress, raising all the way to her upper thigh, that still flashed sexy while keeping her covered.

Ashanti was all sorts of disaster and all over the place with her dress that just didn’t seem like it knew what to do. Her outfit was more of an identity crisis than anything else. The body of the dress exposed the middle of her chest and came back together directly above the belly button. The piece itself is more of a leotard than anything else, as the body of the dress looked half cape half skirt and all see-through. The rather tacky flower attachments on the skirt and running throughout the top of the dress didn’t seem to make much sense either. There really was just a hodge podge of things going on with the dress, and although Ashanti tried to work the tony Ward Couture gown as best she could, there really was no saving her, except for rushing faster to her seat in order to keep the skirt out of view from the public eye.

For anyone who loves music and must follow up on all of the latest songs and trends, the Grammy’s is a must see event. Of course, it is a three and a half hour broadcast the even cuts out some of the performances and awards, otherwise the show would literally go on for the entire day. The Grammy’s has long been known for interesting pairings, and this year is no different, including Elton John and Ed Sheeran. So, whether you are looking for a new celebrity style to copy at the Long Island Hairsay Salon, or you just are looking for exceptional music, these are the most memorable performances at the Grammy’s.

Justin Timberlake made his return with the debut of two new songs. The Grammy’s loves having artists perform new songs for the first time on stage, as this happened a few years ago with Lady Gaga, right before she released her last album “Born This Way.” What truly made the Justin Timberlake set stand out, however, was the fact that he not only sang the songs with Jay-Z, but the performance was broadcast on television in black and white, in order to give it more of a 1920s swing joint look.

Sting and Bruno Mars also performed a rather lively set that not only looked good but sounded good too. Too often, the Grammy musical pairings just don’t mesh well at all (see Alicia Keys and Adam Levine), but the Sting and Bruno Mars combination worked perfectly. The two artists performed the songs “Locked out of Heaven” and “Walking on the Moon.” It seemed like the entire audience was on their feet for the entirety of the set and didn’t take a break for minutes afterwards. Which is saying something when the Grammy’s is such a long show.

Hairstyle trends for the spring of 2013 vary based on a person’s face shape. Flattering styles exist for people with round, square, long, oval and heart-shaped faces. To have your hair cut and styled by a professional, visit the Hairsay Salon in Long Island, New York. One of our brilliant stylists will help prepare you for spring by giving you the perfect hairstyle.

Your hairstyle should complement your face. If you have a round face, then you should avoid a short and curly hairstyle. Otherwise, your hairstyle will make your face look even rounder. People with a round face need a cut that will make their face appear leaner and more oval. Straight hair usually looks best. In addition, the hair should be at least chin length or longer. If you have a round face, you should also consider getting bangs.

Those who have an oval face are lucky; they can make nearly any hairstyle look good. If you have an oval face, make sure to avoid a hairstyle that adds height to the top of your head. You should also pass on a blunt cut if your hair is too curly or thick.

Short hair tends to look best on those who have a long face. Long hair can drag your face down, so you should try to avoid that issue. As for heart-shaped faces, they tend to have a pointy chin. Therefore, those with a heart-shaped face should find a hairstyle that accents their eyes and cheekbones. When it comes to a square face, you should play down your angular jaw. The best way to go about this is to create texture. For example, you can have your hair curled, or you can have the stylist make your ends choppy.

Once you find a hairstyle that works best for your face shape, you can visit the Hairsay Salon to have it cut and styled. Spring is quickly approaching, so you should prepare your hair for the change of season.

The Grammys provide a way to celebrate music and artist achievement. Once a year, an awards show is held to honor those who have achieved success in the music industry. During music’s biggest night, numerous artists perform live with millions of people watching. Unfortunately, some performances don’t live up to the hype. Out of all the performances, Nicki Minaj’s 2012 spectacle was the worse. Her performance of “Roman’s Revenge” was confusing and bizarre.

For those who don’t know, Roman is Nicki’s British alter ego. During the first part of her performance, she was pretending to be Roman while confessing her sins to a priest. While Nicki may think her Roman character is interesting, most of the population does not. In fact, most people who were watching the Grammys just assumed Roman was Nicki rapping in a British accent. She falsely assumed that people would understand the story behind her performance. Most people questioned what was happening at the time. The performance was a lot to take in. Besides being difficult to understand, Nicki was full of manic energy and hard to watch. Many found the Catholic Church imagery to be offensive, and it was obvious that she lip-synced most of the performance. For these reasons, Nicki Minaj holds the title for the worst performance of all time at the Grammys.

Another notably bad performance happened in 1990 during a Milli Vanilli performance. Milli Vanilli was one of the biggest bands during the early 90s. As a result, they disappointed a lot of fans during their performance of “Girl You Know It’s True.” The band was caught lip-syncing to a prerecorded track and received a great deal of criticism the following day.

No one is ever certain what will happen on stage at the Grammy Awards. This uncertainty is part of the attraction. Not knowing which acts will fly and which will fall flat is a main reason that millions of people are ready to watch the Grammy Show from beginning to end.

There have always been some stellar acts that shine on the Grammy stage. Unfortunately there are also many top artists that fail to live up to their star billing. Now it’s time to take a look at some of those legendary Grammy performances that flopped. Rihanna’s (off and on) boy-toy was a major fail when he was invited to sing at the Grammy Show. From fashion style to hair style Chris Brown proved that he was not at the top of his game during his controversial perfomance. While Brown showed off some interesting dance moves, his singing was below par for any night. He was also under fire for his vicious physical assault on his Barbados songbird.

Retro back to 1998 and you can discover a man who became known as the infamous “Soy Bomber”. Old school vocalist Bob Dylan was delivering a live performance of “Love Sick” when the Soy Bomber grabbed the Grammy spotlight. The unknown Soy Bomber aka Michael Portnoy was supposed to be one of the backup dancers on stage. Suddenly he tears off his shirt and bares his chest. Soy Bomb was scrawled in large black letters on Portnoy’s scrawny chest. The guy proved that he could get down with his dancing as he began shaking his groove thing all around Dylan. This pitiful performance did not last long, but it will go down as one of the worst flops to ever take center stage at the Grammy Awards Show. One of the biggest Grammy controversies in recent years occurred when Nicki Minaj took the stage in 2012. Minaj tried to create drama with her Exorcism routine. She got both drama and harsh critiques before her routine had even ended. The rap star’s Roman Holiday debacle failed to impress audiences around the world. Not only was Minaj given a major “thumbs down” she also earned the wrath of many earnest (and upset) followers of the Catholic Church.

The ladies have been buzzing here in Long Island at the Hairsay Salon about the recent fashion appearances at the 2013 Golden Globes ceremonies. The hot topic, of course, is the risqué gown worn by Miranda Kerr. The 29-year-old Victoria’s Secret, model showed up on the red carpet draped in the oxblood, chiffon design by Zuhair Murad. The beautiful yet daring gown featured a plunging neck line, mid-thigh front split with gathered ruffle at the hip. Kerr paired the lovely gown with a double hint of satin designed by Ferragamo. Our favorite of her accessories was, obviously, husband, Orlando Bloom.

At a close second, was the cheeky but elegant Louis Vuitton dress worn by Rachel Weisz. Weisz dazzled us with a mixture of satin, strapless mini-dress and peek-a-boo polka dots, escorted by her daringly handsome hubby, Daniel Craig. With her beautiful retro hairstyle, Jimmy Choo sandals, and a Bulgari Serpenti bracelet, she was a force to be reckoned with.

Other noteworthy dare-to-wearers of risqué were Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift. Lopez wore a stunning nude, Zuhair Murad gown with elegant embroidered lace overlay. Swift, a risk-taker herself this year, wore a Donna Karan Atelier gown in deep plum. However, it was Eva Longoria, who once again took us back to the plunging neck line and high-slit features of Kerr’s Zuhair Murad gown.
Longoria arrived wearing a black lace and satin Emilio Pucci dress. Unfortunately, the Desperate Housewives favorite had her own Super Bowl moment, as she had a nip-slip during her walk down the red carpet. The actress seemed to take the incident in stride, while onlookers and photogs took it all in.

Whether it is a retro trend or a latest fashion hairstyle, Golden Globe Awards features everything. You may want to take some time to check some of the best and most famous hairstyles of celebrities as each one’s style do have a different theme. Take the example of Emily Blunt and Sienna Miller; each one of these actresses was spotted in a stunning hairstyle, featuring sleek ballerina buns. This classic yet fashionable hairdo actually suited their long gowns and glamorous makeup. Similarly, the catwalkers Barbara Palvin and Rosie Huntington were with that newly introduced side-swept look. This style actually suits many women with wide jaws and broad forehead.

In the Golden Globe Awards of 2012, Rooney Mara was in a new and refreshing look. Even with her short hair, she was able to manage to look feminine and classy. Her gently tied hairstyle gave her face a longer look and feminine charm. In fact, it suited her famous character in the movie “The girl with the dragon tattoo.” Her Golden Globes hairstyle was on the fashion page of many magazines and newspapers. If you take a look at Rihanna’s ever-changing hairdo, you will barely find any repetition. You may see her in those bold curls with flashy colors or in a whole new hairstyle with bangs and side layers. If the idea of a new celebrity hairstyle matches your taste, then look no further.
