Legendary Performances at the Grammy’s That Flopped

No one is ever certain what will happen on stage at the Grammy Awards. This uncertainty is part of the attraction. Not knowing which acts will fly and which will fall flat is a main reason that millions of people are ready to watch the Grammy Show from beginning to end.

There have always been some stellar acts that shine on the Grammy stage. Unfortunately there are also many top artists that fail to live up to their star billing. Now it’s time to take a look at some of those legendary Grammy performances that flopped. Rihanna’s (off and on) boy-toy was a major fail when he was invited to sing at the Grammy Show. From fashion style to hair style Chris Brown proved that he was not at the top of his game during his controversial perfomance. While Brown showed off some interesting dance moves, his singing was below par for any night. He was also under fire for his vicious physical assault on his Barbados songbird.

Retro back to 1998 and you can discover a man who became known as the infamous “Soy Bomber”. Old school vocalist Bob Dylan was delivering a live performance of “Love Sick” when the Soy Bomber grabbed the Grammy spotlight. The unknown Soy Bomber aka Michael Portnoy was supposed to be one of the backup dancers on stage. Suddenly he tears off his shirt and bares his chest. Soy Bomb was scrawled in large black letters on Portnoy’s scrawny chest. The guy proved that he could get down with his dancing as he began shaking his groove thing all around Dylan. This pitiful performance did not last long, but it will go down as one of the worst flops to ever take center stage at the Grammy Awards Show. One of the biggest Grammy controversies in recent years occurred when Nicki Minaj took the stage in 2012. Minaj tried to create drama with her Exorcism routine. She got both drama and harsh critiques before her routine had even ended. The rap star’s Roman Holiday debacle failed to impress audiences around the world. Not only was Minaj given a major “thumbs down” she also earned the wrath of many earnest (and upset) followers of the Catholic Church.
